Orion
Introducing Orion. In a world of high technology, complex computer
interfaces,
household appliance interfaces and the constant bombardment of information
there
is a product which will simplify your life. This product is Orion. Your
own Electronic Partner.
Orion has been designed with you in mind. You can
now interact with your house in a natural way without needing to memorize
complex
sets of commands. Just plain old English language is used to communicate with
our system.
Like human assistants, your Electronic Partner must have a
name. Usually a first name like "Cindy". Other examples could be
"Hey you!", "Bruce", "House" and so on. Unlike real human assistants, its
entirely up to you.
Stay tuned for new additions to Orion which will further simplify your
interaction
with computers, household appliances and the Internet.
PRODUCT FEATURES
Speech Interface
|
Provides a continuous speech recognition interface using natural language (English like) commands to control devices such as lights and TVs in the home.
So turning the light on in the lounge room is as simple as saying, "switch on the lounge light" or "lounge light on". |
Text Interface
|
Natural language commands can be input via the PC key board to control devices in the home. |
Natural Language Interface
|
A common natural language parser is used to ensure consistency of the user interface across the various input mediums. |
Call Sign Identification
|
Commands are issued using a call sign. This allows commands to be used in conversation without being concerned about the product misinterpreting requests, and action commands which were not intentional. Therefore to turn on the front lights the user would say "Orion switch on the front lights’.
The Call Sign is user configurable. Therefore instead of "Orion", call signs such as "Fred", "Zen" and "partner" could be used. |
Computer Speech Response
|
The product can reply to the user using computer generated speech. Therefore user commands can be spoken back by the computer. This provides a confirmation that the system has understood the command requested.
This feature is optional and can be enabled/disabled in the system configuration function. |
C-Bus Compatible
|
The product provides an interface to Clipsal’s C-Bus Home Automation System. |
Device Control
|
ON, OFF and DIMMER control of devices connected to C-Bus Home Automation System.
Play, Stop, Pause, Play Track nn, open, shut commands can be issued to control the CD Player attached to the Personal Computer where the product is being run. |
Device Independence (multi threaded & multi tasking)
|
All device control can be executed simultaneously. All devices can be controlled independently from a simple single natural language interface.
|
Multi modal operation
|
Both the speech and text interface can be used simultaneously.
|
Command Logging
|
A log file is kept of all commands issued and executed. |
